In Alberta, the gig economy is growing rapidly. A recent study from the University of Calgary found that the number of temporary workers in the province has increased by 50% in the last five years. This growth is being driven by a number of factors, including the rise of online platforms that facilitate work-for-hire, such as Uber and Airbnb.

The growth of the gig economy has a number of implications for workers in Alberta. For some, it provides the opportunity to earn additional income or work on their own terms. However, for others, it can lead to job insecurity, low wages, and a lack of benefits.

As I already mentioned, the previous article explains that the gig economy is a positive trend for workers, as it offers people more flexibility and control over their work, and can also lead to higher earnings. However, I also believe it is important that we need to be aware of the challenges of the gig economy, such as the importance of having a plan in place to ensure job security, benefits, and stability.
