PLC e-Portfolio Part 3: Personal Leadership Philosophy - Leaders I admire

My leaders are Alvaro Uribe, Pope Francis and Barak Obama.

Alvaro Uribe:

Álvaro Uribe, former president of Colombia, deserves my admiration thanks to his leadership, determination and commitment to the security and development of our country, just when we needed it most. His firmness in the fight against illegal armed groups was one of the main reasons for which he is recognized.

As president, he implemented policies that encouraged foreign investment, business growth, and poverty reduction. His focus on strengthening State institutions and improving the country's infrastructure has been highlighted as a sign of his commitment to sustainable development and improving the quality of life of Colombians.

Pope Francisco:

The second leader I admire is Pope Francis, the head of the Catholic Church. I admire him for his deep commitment to compassion, inclusion, and social justice. His values focus on caring for the most vulnerable and defending human rights. Pope Francis has been a tireless advocate for the poor and marginalized, promoting solidarity and equality. His focus on empathy and respect for all people, regardless of their background or status, makes him an inspirational figure to many.

In addition, Pope Francis is distinguished by his belief in the importance of dialogue between different religions, cultures and religions. He has worked hard for peace and reconciliation, fostering mutual understanding. His humble and close treatment, as well as his willingness to listen and learn from others, reflect his commitment to unity and the construction of a more harmonious world.

Barak Obama:

Finally, Barack Obama is worthy of my admiration for his values, beliefs, and behaviours. During his presidency, he promoted a speech loaded with messages that sought to instill hope at a time when the United States was experiencing its worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. His campaign slogan “Yes, we can” became iconic and was adapted and used in numerous political campaigns around the world.

In addition, Obama has spoken about the importance of being kind and helpful and has stressed the importance of surrounding himself with diverse people, with different points of view and ways of understanding and solving problems. He has stressed the importance of including women in organizations and has said that "organizations that work with women achieve more."

In conclusion, I think that the three leaders I chose are in some way aligned with my principles and values: Alvaro Uribe in his determination to achieve a common goal, sometimes without hearing voices against him; Pope Francis with his humble and close treatment, as well as his willingness to listen and learn from others; and finally Barak Obama, with his message to be kind, surround yourself with diverse people and with different points of view.
